We had a real nice weekend in the Gold Coast and going camping. Two days in Surfers Paradise (part of the Gold Coast) was enough however. It's pretty commercial and there's lots of nightclubs and party people in their late teen, early twenties and we're a bit too old for that:)
We did some shopping though, and enjoyed the beautiful beach in the middle of the city. The two highlights of the trip were me winning 80 dollars in the casino and finding a newly opened Danish Delicatessen that served really nice
smørrebrød! They are like an open sandwich made of dark rye bread with different toppings like pickled herring, salmon, roast beef etc. They were delicious and the Danish girls working in the shop were really sweet. Made me feel a bit homesick...

We headed down to Hat Head by car on the Sunday to meet up with Lauren, Jarvis and a few others. We saw quite a bit of wildlife including Possums, a Huntsman spider and a Kangaroo. I was brushing my teeth in the morning when I saw something in the corner of my eye. I thought it was a person running but when it stopped I turned around to see a Kangaroo almost as tall as me staring back at me five or ten meters away. Whilst I ran around alerting the others and trying to start my dead phone for a pictures, a gang of kids came running and starting chasing it so it ran off:(
