From Pompei, we avoided Naples and headed south to the much hearlded Amalfi Coast. The traffic in Rome was a cake walk compared to the narrow mountain roads which require one way traffic at times. Add to this random tourists on the road, large vehicles such as buses squeezing by and Vespas that literally own the road. The peple on the scooters bypass traffic, drive on the wrong sides of the road and blow through any type of traffic light/stop signs ect. Not for the short tempered. However the Coast is absolutely gorgeous, probably the best place I have ever travelled. In fact it was so nice that we ended up not travelling further south to Sicily and stayed for the remainder of our Italian trip.
Bellieve this or not, a two lane street with scooters slipping by and tourists walking. As the small towns are built along this mountainous coast, there is ALOT of walking and hiking up stairs.
